Changeling the Lost story ideas

Postby warheart » Wed Jan 27, 2010 9:34 am

Hi guys,

I've been wanting to start a Changeling campaign for quite a while now, but the thing is that while I recognise the potential of the system, I simply have no idea about what kinds of stories that Changeling can be used to tell.

With this in mind, I decided to start a new thread for story ideas. Feel free to post chronicles that you've run in the past, or any ongoing ones. Would love to hear from any of you.

Thanks!

To be honest, I liked the Quick Play module which is available for free download over at White Wolf. It gives a simple story, and offers some ways to expand it into a chronicle. It has some pregen characters if you are that way inclined, or you could always use them as NPCs later on.

Take a look and see what you think: http://www.white-wolf.com/downloads.php?category_id=119

Hope this helps.

Like a lot of White Wolf games, simpler stories can actually be the best kind. If you don't shoehorn the setting towards one theme you'll get a lot more out of it.

Once you've developed a basic setting - arranging the courts and NPCs - just start inserting conflicts. Trouble in the winter court? Privateers in the next city over? A deluge of new refugees recently escaped from Faerie?

Don't forget to talk to your players, too. If they know basically what they want to play then you can start tailoring the setting towards them.

Thanks both. I have indeed read the introductory adventure and will run it at some point. Since the first post, I've gotten down to creating a character with my girlfriend and ran the prelude for her. She's playing a Fairest Dancer, who lost her job as a professional figure skater and had to return to her mom's place as she couldn't afford the rent any longer. Looking at the faded pictures, she remembered the good times, the falling out, and the time where she didn't even come when her mother died, alone and forgotten. It was at this point where she heard a noise in the attic, and brushed away the cobwebs to reveal a beautiful ballroom. A strikingly beautiful man asked her for a dance, and there she stayed, trapped in an eternal dance with many others like her until she managed to escape her captor from the Hedge.

Will be doing the next character prelude soon.

I found the Fear-Maker's Promise SAS was a good solid adventure for Lost. It is very good at introducing the moral dilemmas and themes of the game.
