World of Darkness Online

Postby War Childe » Sat Aug 29, 2009 10:27 pm

Hey guys
First off...Love the show. Secret frequency rocks.

I co-host a podcast for CCP's main game EvE online and have been on the look out World of Darkness online stuff to throw your way. Finally something has popped up.

Seems CCP/White Wolf are having some sort of private party where they maybe unveiling things for WoDO. It will probably be alittle while yet before anything concrete comes out on the net but i guess this means things are moving along. CCP have already trademarked the name Vampire: The Requiem for a computer game.

CCP to announce new Vampire: The Requiem MMO at PAX?

Keep up the great work.

While if it starts only / remains only vampire I cant say I'll be totally surprised. However I'm somewhat disappointed if thats the case. Though I understand short of restricting Mages to only rotes they can cast. the creative thaumaturgy engine would probably be so complicated to create the designers would die/retire before it was finished.

I'll sure I'll still pick it up and so long as it isnt overrun by silly twilight fans and I see a 100+ Edward Cullen's running around, I'll probably stick around. Of course I have DC Universe coming out soon hopefully. So monthly costs might limit my decision to having to pick one.

I doubt that it will either be only vampire (even at the start) or remain that way. While vampire would likely draw the most new blood, Mage would almost certainly bring the most fans, and I can't see them not doing a Hunter game, as well.

This is all just my opinion, but I could even see Hunter being more fan popular than vampire, but that sort of depends on how the game would work.

I didn't hear of any Vampire MMO and I had friends at the party, meanwhile I was enjoying PAX! I would put it as hope and rumor still. I did hear from my friends that Justin Achilie was the DJ for the night and it was an open bar.

I really wonder how it is going to work. How the game will be set up for groups of players, more or less manditory than other MMO's, and how location based it will be. It would be really cool if they stay sort of close to the RPG's theme of building up your personal and Coteries power base.

I meant more that the party had little to nothing to do with any WOD MMO. CCP/White-Wolf was just having a party, they happened to "rename" the club to the succubus club, it was not a preview of any MMO to come. There was a lot of internet speculation that it was a pre-launch party for the WOD MMO, from what my friends told me it was just a lot of free booze and a good time with some of the developers. No new insights.
