I can safely say we have brought the basics we need to start a foundation.
Below is the foundation we have compiled by Beckett.
Angel: the Exiled
Creatures native to the Clestial Realms of Aether, but for whatever reason, where banished to the mortal realms. As spiritual creatures, they need to attach themselves to a host in order to both remain active, and to keep the abyssal taint from claiming them completely.
When the Angel attaches to their host, it is typically for an extended time, and both gain many benefits for being in such a state. The Angelic Spirit and the Human Host meld into a single entity. The angel grants some measure of holy power and miracle-working, fueled by their own Divinity. At the same time, the human host helps to keep away the abyssal taint that drew them away from Aether in the first place, and calls them to fall further.
However, having a human host also has some drawbacks. While it greatly helps to mitigate the taint, it also distorts what they know and understand of Aether. The Fall, shatters their full understanding of the celestial existence, and human emotions, feelings, intuitions, and mortality all slightly twist what the angel knows is correct to a more personalized version of it. The higher the hosted angel’s Divinity raises, the less “human” they become. Without the “human” side of the vessel, though, the angel becomes lost.
Being, (mostly) cut off from the “Will of Heaven”, Angels cling to a human-like morality, called Testament. Testament is a combination of how strongly connected to Aether the individual is, understands their place in the world, remembers the gap between worlds, and has managed to keep the Abyssal essence from their combined souls. By acting, understanding, and believing in the dictates of the celestial realms, they continue to grow spiritually more a part of them, and less a toy of the abyss.
The Exiled are divided into to major groups, Powers and Choirs (maybe Dominions). Powers is the role and function that the angel originally served in Aether, or sometimes on earth before their fall.
When they are banished to the mortal realms, the angelic soul merges with a mortal vessel. The original vessel is very compatible to the angels prior role, though later vessels may or may not be. Many angels also form into groups with similar goals, philosophies, and world/realm views. They also help to train it’s members to develop certain traits or spiritual powers, how to remain sane and preserve their mortal vessels life somewhat, and just how to deal with being outside Heaven’s grace.
Powers/duty/Roles
Warrior - someone who's duty was the fight the darkness on the frontline in battle. The Lores of Blades and Battle are the 2 key powers to the Warrior. Since the exile, each warrior must relearn themselves and to deal with their now human emotions towards their once sacred duty.
Judge - A being who's duty is to watch both within and without for corruption. Many who are exiled remember themselves being judged for much less then the other duties. They are the ones gifted with sights to see within a persons soul. The Lores of Judgment (Ghost riders powers come to mind for me here) And Redemption. Judges mostly bend towards the Archons or the Demons factions.
Muses - Those who's job was the ease the injured or inspire the leaders of Aether. Gifted with the Lore of Beauty and inspiration aided this greatly.
Invoker/Lords - The leaders of Aether. They wielded both Powers of the Destruction and command. The Lores of Celestial fire and Voice are the Key powers to the Lords. They seem to have the hardest time adjusting to the limits of this world, sometimes even driven mad by their lack of control and power here.
Gate Keepers - Protectors of portals and guides to travelers outside the Aether realm. The Lores of Chains and Gates are the Key abilities of the Gate keepers.
****Other Possible Powers****
Alchemist - Their duty was to prepare and care for the rest of society between battles and blood shed. The Lores of Elixirs and restoration are the Alchemist's key powers. After exile most Alchemist are lost at first without instruction on what to use their powers for, most drive by curosity begin to relearn their powers for new things.
Forge Masters - The Artificers and craftsmen of the realm of Aether. Lores of Crafts and Relics are the assets of the forge Masters. These beings seem to adjust well to the unglamorous lifestyle of the lesser world.
Seers/Prophets – Their duty was to keep tabs on both the enemies of Aether and also the mortal world. The Lores of Word and Foresight are their key powers. After the fall, they generally serve their peers as one of the few true means of receiving understanding from the Aether, even if it is dangerous and misunderstandable at times.
The Dominions
1.) Archons, a type of angel that was exiled completely by surprize and against their will. They generally view Aether as some sort of perfect, or nearly so heavenly realm and seek to return there. Individual Archons have slightly personal view about what that heavenly realm is really like, though there is a general understanding that is is a perfect, ordered, sacred, and/or happy place.
2.) Patrons/Muses, a type of angel that may be a little regretful that they were pushed out of Aether, but have found their place on earth and don't really seek to return, (at least as the ultimate goal). Some are just happier here, while others might not want o have to go through the ordeal of being tainted and cast out again, and have just made their peace. Patrons generally devote themselves to making this world a better place, at least from their point of view. Patrons focus on inspiring mortals to greater heights in whatever causes the Angel represents.
3.) Sages, are a group of angels that value knowledge and understanding above all else. To them, their exile, permanent or not, did cut them off from a treasury of Aetherian knowledge, but has also granted them the opportunity to experience and learn from a wealth of human lore.
4.) Fiend , the iconic fallen angel. Most are extremely bitter towards the powers that be for their fall. Many see themselves as innocent or at the least not so guilty to merit such a punishment. Regardless, most have turned their backs on the heavens, either for spite or because the memory is to painful to keep experiencing. Like the Patrons, Demons are much more at home in this reality, and don't realy seek to return, (except to perhaps force themselves back in).
5) Deva, beings that believe this is only the next step on the road to ascension. Aether was beautiful but limited, to little space for grow.
I will try to update this should new powers and such come up.
